HLPS Education Continuity Plan
Staff have been working diligently to prepare plans, organize materials and pack up student belongings.
Student belongings and materials can be picked up or will be delivered the afternoon of Monday, March 23rd.
If you live out of town, further than 2.4 km from the school, your child's belongings, chromebooks and/or materials will be delivered to you by bus on March 23 between the hours of 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM (Unless you confirmed differently with thes school) These items have been bagged and labeled and will be left at your door so as to ensure we are practicing social distancing.
If you live within 2.4 km of the school you can pick up your child's belongings, chromebooks and/or materials from the school between 1 PM and 4 PM. Parents will be allowed in the gym entrance. Doors will be labeled "in" and "out" .
We will monitor the number of adults coming into the building and will only allow minimal numbers in at a time. If you are experiencing any symptoms, please make alternate arrangements for pick up. If high school students are picking up materials we will meet them outside. Please be aware that students are NOT allowed into the school building and this will be strictly enforced. Teachers will not be available to meet with parents during this time.
On Monday, teachers will be sending home a 13-day plan (taking them to Easter Break). This day-by-day plan is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 24th. (These are available electronically or in paper format based on parent preference)
This will include:
2 hours of academic work/day
45 minutes/day of literacy (reading and writing)
45 minutes/day of numeracy
30 minutes/social/science alternating days
6 hours per week/quad
Completion of work from quad 3. Teachers will send out what needs to be completed on Monday.
Teachers will be prepared to deliver courses on line or by paper for quad 4 to begin on April 20. Course outlines will be sent out before Easter break. If you want information on the courses your child is registered in for quad 4 we ask that you wait until April 1 to contact the school. Email Michelleg@fvsd.ab.ca
Beginning on Tuesday, March 24th, through Thursday, April 9th, teachers will be available from 9:00-12:00 and 12:30-3:00 to support parents with the material that has been sent home.
Teachers will continue to communicate home using your preferred method of communication.
